Coconut Ladoo is a popular Indian sweet made with grated coconut, sugar, and flavored with cardamom. These ladoos are easy to make and are often prepared during festivals or special occasions.
Why You Will Love It:
You will love Coconut Ladoo for its soft and melt-in-your-mouth texture, combined with the sweet aroma of coconut and cardamom. It's a delightful treat that can be enjoyed by all ages.
Key Ingredient:
Grated Coconut
Ingredients:
    • 2 cups grated coconut (fresh or desiccated)
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
    • 1 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter)
    • Chopped nuts for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
    • Heat a pan or kadhai over medium heat. Add grated coconut and roast it for 4-5 minutes until it turns slightly golden and aromatic. Stir continuously to prevent burning. Remove from heat and let it cool.
    • In the same pan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely, stirring occasionally.
    • Continue cooking the sugar syrup until it reaches one-string consistency. To check this, take a small amount of syrup between your thumb and index finger and gently pull apart. A single thread should form and not break.
    • Add the roasted coconut and cardamom powder to the sugar syrup. Mix well to combine.
    • Cook the mixture over low heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan. This will take about 5-7 minutes.
    • Add ghee to the mixture and mix well. Cook for another minute until the mixture comes together and starts leaving the edges of the pan.
    • Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly until it is safe to handle.
    • While the mixture is still warm, grease your palms with ghee and shape the mixture into small round balls or ladoos. If desired, press a chopped nut into the center of each ladoo for garnish.
    • Allow the Coconut Ladoos to cool completely at room temperature before serving or storing in an airtight container.
Serving:
    • Serve Coconut Ladoo as a sweet treat during festivals, celebrations, or as a dessert after meals.
Recipe Notes:
    • Ensure the sugar syrup reaches the correct consistency to bind the ladoos together.
    • Adjust the sweetness according to your taste preferences by varying the amount of sugar.
    • Use freshly grated coconut for the best flavor, but desiccated coconut works well too.
Enjoy these delicious and aromatic Coconut Ladoos, a traditional Indian sweet that melts in your mouth!
